Moderator: Claire Johnson, DC, MSEd, PhD
Prevention strategies have the potential to improve quality of life and save costs. However, the five categories of prevention are typically not included in traditional models of spine care. Why is this? During this session, we will review the spectrum of prevention related to spinal disorders. Attendees will be invited to join in a discussion on the development of a practical interdisciplinary prevention model of care. Our discussion will include: 1) What are the barriers that limit including prevention in spine care? 2) What are potential solutions to address these barriers?
Upon completion of this session, participants should gain strategies to:
- List the 5 major categories of prevention;
- Understand how spectrum of prevention is related to spine care;
- Describe the advantages, disadvantages, and/or limitations of the prevention categories in relation to spine care.
