CGS1: The Solid-State Paradigm Shift in Gas Sensing Technologies (Room Meeting Room 211CD)

26 Jun 19
10:00 AM - 10:50 AM
Don O'Brein, Senseair North America // NDIR (nondispersive infrared) based gas sensing solutions continue to evolve; whether to shrink in size, or in price, or to improve in measuring performance, in multifunction, or in energy consumption. This session reviews the current-state NDIR technology and its core components, and from there present some of the evolved design paths taking NDIR gas sensors into many new products and applications. Absorption spectroscopy has always been viewed as a highly accurate measuring technology, but too expensive or poorly fitted for many applications. The paradigm shift with Solid-State optics for NDIR-based gas sensing technologies is the dawning of the next current-state, a sunrise for the air and gas sensors- and data-driven tomorrow.
