Consumer Privacy and Mobile Devices (Room 206)

Mobile devices equipped with Wi-Fi provide a way for companies to track those who visit their premises – or even just walk by on the sidewalk. This workshop will cover consumer privacy as it relates to their mobile devices. Privacy advocates have been calling for improved privacy for mobile devices; and mobile device manufacturers recently have begun to improve their devices’ behavior.  At the same time, with GDPR in the EU, PIPEDA in Canada, and CPA in California, there is an immediate need for companies to limit or remove this data when requested by customers.  This session explores implications of these topics in this strong regulatory environment.
