Hunt Expo 2020

Developing the Right Hunt Application Strategy Across the West (Room Salt Palace Convention Center Room 150G)

14 Feb 20
5:30 PM - 6:30 PM

Jason Carter and Adam Bronson of Epic Outdoors have made a living hunting and consulting on Western Big Game hunts. This seminar will be talking about Western Big Game hunt experiences and the homework and tag acquisition that led up to those hunts. They will make time for questions throughout the seminar in order to customize it to those in the room.

Jason and Adam not only consult on a daily basis, for a living, they hunt state to state every year and have hunted nearly all big game species in many western states over the last 25+ years! They have been applying for tags, hunting on and dealing with landowner tags, conservation tags, over-the-counter tags, and going on regular guided hunts in Alaska, Canada, U.S.A., and Mexico for years. They have experienced many different trophy hunts and tried almost every different trophy hunting opportunity imaginable. Over the years, they have learned a lot from those experiences.

Prior to the inception of Epic Outdoors, Jason worked as a hunting consultant at Huntin’ Fool Magazine for 17 years. After his years at Huntin’ Fool, he initiated an outdoor TV show with Under Armour. The show, Ridge Reaper, mainly showcased big game hunts that took place in the western U.S., Canada, Alaska, and Mexico and was featured on the Outdoor Channel. This was quite an amazing time in Jason’s life; as host of Under Armour’s Ridge Reaper, he literally took part, on average, in 15+ filmed big game hunts across the West, each year. This exponentially enhanced the knowledge he had gained in the prior years of his life.

As a leading researcher for Epic Outdoors, Jason spends countless hours each year, gathering information and knowledge about every western state before writing the state sections in Epic Outdoors Magazine and updating their online hunt planner. The advice and information published in the Epic Outdoors Magazine, and accessible by phone and internet, is the most comprehensive available.

After graduating with a Masters degree in Wildlife Biology, Adam Bronson was hired as a wildlife biologist with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, in southern Utah. He was later promoted to the position of Big Game Project Leader, which oversaw the statewide Bighorn sheep programs and other special big game and once-in-a-lifetime species projects. Adam began researching and applying for hunts in 8-10 western states during his college days as he came to understand the big picture—gaining points and applying for hunts outside of his home state was a necessity to get on some of the quality hunts around the western U.S. that he wanted to do someday.

In 2006, Adam chose to leave state employment and go to work with Jason Carter as a hunting consultant for The Huntin' Fool Magazine. Adam used his knowledge and research of western states to help write the magazine, book hunts, acquire landowner tags, and consult with thousands of hunters about how, where, and what to hunt in the West. He continued to hunt as many western states annually, as he could. This added to his experience and ability to give sound advice to the hunters he consulted. He has been a partner in Epic Outdoors since the beginning and continues operating the outfitting business he has owned for the last 13 years.
