Why would anyone pay $499 for a tablet when you can buy one for $399? Or pay $329 for a mini- tablet when you can buy one for $199? In public purchasing, the emphasis has been finding the best value good or service. Various methods for identifying best value have been developed – IFB, RFP, RFQ. However, value is a term which can carry a number of meanings and include many things. This program will examine what the real meaning of value is and how it relates to public purchasing This course is designed for purchasing professionals at all levels and will emphasize the importance of understanding and assessing value beyond just price. Determining value is a key factor in successful purchasing. In order to truly save an organization money while at the same time contributing to its mission, purchasing professionals must first understand what creates in value in the goods and services they are purchasing as well as the services that they provide.
