A bicycle journey across Jordan, the Sinai, and Egypt during the Arab Spring. This is a personal account of a solo bicycling adventure to explore the ancient city of Petra, castles from the early crusades, the Saint Catharine Monastery in the Sinai, and the lost catacombs of Egypt. But most importantly, it was a quest to meet the people one on one. In the Arab culture, one is expected to welcome the traveler, and there was no shortage of hospitality on this journey: from breakfast with a retired general to sharing cigarettes with the Bedouins and lunch with student protestors in Tarir Square. Experience this journey of traveling off the beaten path. For more information, email dlangmade@mfmca.com.
