Three adventurous authors tell their tales of thru-hiking, section hiking, and bicycle racing the entire length of the 800-mile Arizona Trail (AZT), a National Scenic Trail. Heidi Elizabeth Blankenship, Steve Chaffee, and Sarah Ruth Jansen are dedicated preservationists and recreationists with a passion for the AZT. Their prose and poems are an inspiration to anybody considering a journey on a long-distance trail. Experience the Arizona Trail through their words, stories and imagery! The 800-mile AZT snakes up the center of Arizona from Mexico to Utah, winding its way from the Sonoran Desert, Gila River, Superstition Mountains, and Mazatzal Wilderness to the Mogollon Rim and the San Francisco Peaks. After crossing the Grand Canyon and Kaibab Plateau, the trail stops beneath Utah’s Vermillion Cliffs. By then the trail has traveled up and down from 1,700 to 9,270 feet above sea level, through deserts, canyons, mountains, and forests.
