There have been countless examples of artificial intelligence in film, television, and literature over the past few decades, from HAL-9000 to Data in Star Trek, from the war computer Colossus to the androids of Westworld. This talk will explore some of the most fun and popular of these fictional AIs, then discuss how likely (or not) they are to ever come to pass in reality, based on progress and trends in artificial intelligence in the world today.
