IN5 | Extending the Traditional Classroom With a Systems Integration Approach (Room Dade)

As universities expand their online course offerings, a significant portion of academic curricula must still be delivered in a traditional classroom modality. This requirement poses unique challenges. Considering geographic reach as well as the budgetary restrictions that limit academic resources, this session will explore how Kent State used a systems integration initiative to extend the traditional classroom using real-time collaboration software. You’ll learn about the methodologies to increase communication, encourage collaboration between faculty, and foster partnerships among educational technologists with the goal of linking students together to improve retention and degree completion across campuses. Strategies to ensure that leadership initiatives are compatible with existing institutional policies and individual campus goals will also be shared.
