Beating Sustainability Commitment Goals in Record Time: Strategy that Leads to Results (Room Salt Palace, Expo Hall, Showcase Room 2)

In 2014, Ingersoll Rand (IR) a company with about 50,000 employees in offices, manufacturing plants, warehouses and repair centers across the globe, announced a formal Climate Commitment which included a 35% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from its enterprise-wide operations by 2020... And then surpassed this goal a full two years ahead of schedule! Exceeding such a lofty goal required leadership alignment, commitment and coordination across hundreds of locations and became an integral part of the corporate culture. It involved using innovative technology, strategic use of renewable energy and overall focus on efficiencies. Achieving this goal has bolstered the strength of IR’s talent acquisition capabilities, increased visibility as a sustainability thought leader and reduced operational costs throughout the organization.
