Dr. Laurie will speak on her experiences, success and challenges at Wegmans, specifically focusing on moving its ergonomics program from a reactive to a proactive approach, discussing her efforts to incorporate scientific methods, use of EHS design reviews and design standards, and proactive risk assessments to support recommended design changes. She will explain the company’s Prevention through Design strategy, intended to design out risk in the workplace at the new and remodel stage, and offer a look into the future with the incorporation of 3D ergonomic modeling within the development group’s building information modeling (BIM) process.
