e-Poster: Meeting The Demand For Skilled Workers in the Offshore Wind Industry

With the growth in the offshore wind industry in the U.S., there is a pressing need for skilled workers to fill these jobs both offshore, in the marine environment and on land. The U.S. is lacking in the number of workers needed to fill these positions and therefore must take steps now to produce the next class of U.S. OSW workers. These workers can come from the coal industry, universities, associate degree and technical colleges and special OSW training schools. Funding is required to support this initiative and I propose that funding come from states, the federal government, industry and users of offshore wind either directly or indirectly.
