Protein: Too much of a good thing? (Room Oregon Ballroom 202)

31 Oct 19
9:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Tracks: Health & Nutrition

Protein is a metabolically, financially and environmentally-expensive nutrient. Since animals cannot store excess protein, intake above requirements results in protein being stored as fat. Nitrogen is a waste product of protein metabolism and is an environmental pollutant. The high demand for animal proteins places a strain on the global food supply. This presentation will discuss the latest research on the health and environmental effects of protein in pet foods.
