This three-hour lecture / workshop will introduce a Pain Mechanism Classification System (PMCS) as an alternative sub grouping method for patients who suffer non-traumatic or persistent musculoskeletal pain. Show the Yellow Flag Risk Form (YFRF) research supporting its ability to risk stratify, classify pain mechanisms, represent functional outcome changes and direct pain science education. Translating research to clinical practice explaining importance of PMCS and YFRF in selection of pain science education. Consolidate the pain literature’s pain science education recommendation for clinical practice. Differentiating the main headings of explaining the brain’s role in pain, movement safe pain, and the stress connection to pain with “scripted” simple messages. Diagraming patient education materials researched to effect different pain mechanisms allowing time to role play and practice for Monday morning patient preparedness.
