Protecting the Most Sacred of Sacred: The Response to the Crisis of Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls

The crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls continues to devastate tribal families and communities, often with no answers or justice for the victims or their families.  This panel will discuss the importance of data collection and respecting tribal sovereignty, how culture serves as a protective factor and builds resiliency,  the role of public health services and prevention, addressing systemic barriers such as law and order inequities and jurisdictional obstacles, recognizing and combatting Human Trafficking, and how Indigenous peoples hold women and girls as the most sacred of sacred.
