Christian Hultholm is a specialist in power system optimisation, specifically in terms of different means for allowing a sustainable large-scale integration of renewables. He has an M.Sc. in Electrical and Energy Engineering and an M.Sc. in Economics. Christian started his career in the energy sector in the early 2000’s and has gathered experience from various fields both within the generation and the transmission sectors. His professional focus has ranged from design engineering and product management to sales and marketing. Internationally Christian has worked several years in Austria and Germany, concentrating there on engineering for gas storage facilities and oil refineries. Christian’s core interest of power system optimisation has led him to researching the possibilities of energy storage within the frame of his master’s thesis at the Technical University of Vienna, subsequently turning his attention to reciprocating gas engines. He is currently part of a professional team studying how such engine-based power plants can be used for optimising the use of existing thermal generation assets and reduce balancing costs in power systems with a heavy penetration of renewable energy.
