Juergen R. Weidner
Principal Advisor
Siemens AG
Jürgen R. Weidner received the Dipl.-Ing. degree in electrical engineering (high voltage technology) from the Technical University of Brunswick, Germany in 1975. In the same year he joined the High Voltage Laboratory of Siemens/KWU in Mülheim a. d. Ruhr. His research work on partial discharge and treeing phenomena at epoxy-mica insulation systems for large turbine generators lead to several new test systems and increased reliability of generator stator winding insulation systems up to 40 kV. In 1994 he became head of the Electrotechnical Laboratory at Siemens. Since 2007 he is a Principal Advisor in insulation systems and diagnostics. Now he is engaged in high voltage and insulation technology, quality management and on-line monitoring/diagnostics of large turbine generators. He represents Siemens as a key expert in generator technology in customer relationship, international conferences and organizations. He is a member of several ask force and working groups at IEEE, IEC, CIGRE and VDE.
