Rick Puccio, Ph.D. is the Senior Scientist at Quartzdyne in Salt Lake City. Dr. Puccio received his Ph.D. degree in 2006 from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL. Quartzdyne manufactures pressure and temperature transducers for the downhole oil and gas market. Dr. Puccio heads quartz research and development designing new products and improving current offerings. He has researched quartz and other piezoelectric devices for 15 years focusing primarily on sensors. Over the past nine years at Quartzdyne, he has conducted extensive research on pressure sensor characteristics such as accuracy, resolution and drift in extreme downhole environments.
