As an engineer and a licensed pilot, Dr. Charles Malveaux has been working with unmanned aerial vehicles for over 10 years. He has several patents pending involving UAV's in commercial airspace and integration of UAV systems as part of an agricultural control system. As director of Environmental Robotics he is focused on agricultural and environmental applications using drones. His research and teaching interest involves the use of advanced robotic systems for Environmental Remote Sensing Applications with an emphasis on advanced aerial robotics as well as the use of full sized aircraft for projects ranging from Coastal Mapping, Emergency Preparedness, and Oil Spill Response and Mitigation, to Agricultural Sustainability and Increased Crop Yields. He is the founder of the Environmental Robotics Institute. ERI provides high resolution site monitoring aerial imagery, real time mapping and aerial data collection for building infrastructure, transportation, civil engineering design, and Precision Agricultural applications using UAV technology and integrated sensor networks.
