Levi Kilcher (PhD, Physical Oceanography) is the lead researcher for NREL’s MHK resource characterization and market analysis activities. Dr. Kilcher leads the DOE/WWPTO-funded ‘Early Market Site-Identification’ and ‘Advanced Turbulence Measurements’ projects. Dr. Kilcher has several years’ experience in local stakeholder engagement for project development of renewable energy and energy efficiency technology deployment. Dr. Kilcher has led oceanic instrumentation deployment activities in a wide range of environments and has more than 7 months at-sea time. Dr. Kilcher has led tidal resource characterization efforts in Puget Sound, WA and False Pass, Alaska. Dr. Kilcher has contributed to IEC technical specification for MHK resource assessment and is currently the U.S. subject matter expert for the riverine power performance technical specification.
