Mr. Daniel Johnson, PE., MS., F. ASCE, is with AECOM, the leading consulting engineering firm in the U.S. Dan is well qualified with over 40 years of experience in water resources, dam engineering, geotechnical engineering and civil engineering. He has been deeply involved as technical expert, project manager, or technical lead on about 200 water resource and mine tailings dam projects in the U.S., Africa, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Sri Lanka, and Central and South America. His roles have covered all project components from planning, evaluations, design, bidding, construction, operations, and risk management. Mr. Johnson has served on several Panels of Experts and provided independent review on dam projects worldwide. He has served as the Independent Consultant for many FERC Part 12 Subpart D safety inspections and participated in FERC and USBR failure modes and risk analyses. He has participated in and led risk assessment processes on many dam types. He is a member of the Water Resources Advisory Board for Boulder CO, participates in the STEM program through Boulder School District, and volunteers with Engineers without Borders. He is active in USSD, ICOLD, and ASDSO, currently participating in USSD as the Chairman of the Construction and Rehabilitation Committee, ICOLD as Vice Chairman of the parallel committee, ASDSO as member of Committee on Education Outreach. He has authored many papers on the RCC technology and in dam foundations and embankment dams, in general, and has assisted in preparation of Portland Cement Association (U.S.) guidelines for RCC dam rehabilitation and quality control and on the USSD publication on Construction of RCC Dams.
