Plant Manager, Chattahoochee Hydro Group
Georgia Power Company
Arnold started his power generation career as a Welder-Mechanic with the Southern Company at Gulf Power’s Crist Steam Plant in 1981. Before that he worked as a Boilermaker and was proficient in rigging, fitting, and high pressure welding. He moved into a supervisory position while at Crist Plant. In 1998 he accepted a Hydro Superintendent position at Alabama Power’s Martin Dam. There he was responsible for the day to day operations and maintenance of 4 vertical hydro units. While at Martin Dam, he coordinated the re-powering of units 1, 2, and 3. In 2007, he accepted the position as the Plant Manager of Georgia Power’s Chattahoochee Hydro Group which consists of 8 plants totaling 34 units on the Chattahoochee and Flint Rivers, where he remains today. He has a B.S. in Industrial Technology and a M.B.A., both from the University of West Florida.
