Platt grew up in Coney Island so, naturally, landed in the Amusement Business. His first job, at 13, was inflating Beatle dolls so their heads were twice the size of their bodies. After college, he found himself working in game operations on the Santa Monica Pier, Asbury Park, South Padre Island and a number of state fairs. In 1983, he went to work for Maynard Ostrow on the Midway at Circus Circus Reno, transferring in 1988 transferred to Circus Circus Las Vegas . When Excalibur opened in 1990, Platt was promoted to Director of the amusement operation and stayed there for the next twenty years. Platt is currently the Manager of Games, Arcades, and Attractions at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, America’s Favorite Boardwalk. During his career he served as IAAPA Games Committee chairman from 1999-2004 and President of AMIGO (Association of Managers in Game Operations) for three years. Among his eclectic avocation, he held a General Contractors license when In Las Vegas, refereed ice hockey for thirty-five years, raised a wonderful daughter, coordinated the country’s largest rugby tournament (Las Vegas Rugby Challenge), and promoted a beer festival for a number of years, as well.
