Sudha Nagarajan is currently a Doctoral Fellow at Montclair State University in the Counselor Education program. She is a clinical mental health counselor, licensed as an LPC, as well as an NCC and ACS. Her clinical experience pertains to working with adults with chronic mental illness and related challenges affecting physical, emotional and social wellbeing. She is actively involved with community outreach efforts to educate and advocate for mental health among the South Asian community through her affiliation with NAMI-NJ. Some of her volunteerism and outreach activities include participation in building a professional network as a resource for guidance and referral of providers for the South Asian community, as well as support groups, educational training, panel presentations and cultural competency workshops. Sudha is also a member of NJAMC, a division of NJCA focused on multiculturalism in counseling. Some of her efforts with the organization have included conference planning, presentations, and curriculum development for improving cultural competency of providers and educators. Besides her dedication to the development and evaluation of cultural competency among the professional community, her research interests extend to diversity and inclusion in the workplace and the role of Employee Assistance Programs in providing specialized services to employees addressing diversity needs in globalized organizations.
