Marcela received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Rutgers University in 2003. She received her Master degree in Psychology and Mental Health Counseling in 2004. She received her post-master Educational Specialist degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2007, which allowed her to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) in 2010. Presently, she is a doctoral student at Montclair State University with anticipated graduation in 2015 with PhD in Counselor Education. Marcela is CPR and First Aid certified. She has also been trained in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and the “Handle with Care” behavior management system. Marcela has been trained in REBT, and CBT. She is trained in the Nurtured Heart Approach and is utilizing her acquired education and experience to provide therapy services to youth and families in multiple counties of New Jersey. Marcela has been working with children and youth for the past 20 years in various educational and clinical setting. She is a crisis intervention specialist. Marcela has presented at national conferences, such as American Counseling Association, Association for Adult Development and Aging, and Southern Association for Supervision and Counselor Education. She is a member of the Association for Adult Development and Aging committee. She is involved in academic writing and research focused on older adults. She co-authored a book chapter for the textbook College Counseling: A Developmental Approach. She is dedicated to her students, clients, and families. She is committed to excellent counseling and educational services and social advocacy.
