Author and Speaker. Karol Taylor, MA, Owner, Taylor Your Career, retired from more than 28 years in federal employment, working in employee development for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. She went on to become a federal contractor, working in numerous federal agencies as a Federal Career Counselor. Karol brings a broad perspective and insider expertise to the federal job search. Karol holds a master’s degree in counseling psychology, and is a certified Job and Career Transition Coach. She is the coauthor of two books on the federal job search: Find Your Federal Job Fit, and Guide to America’s Federal Jobs, 4th ed. (JIST, Inc.). Karol currently serves as a career consultant with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and provides career-related federal job search workshops for nearby colleges and OneStops. Karol is a two-time recipient of the coveted Department of Health and Human Service's (DHHS) Secretary's Award for Distinguished Service. She received numerous Assistant Secretary Awards from the Administration for Children and Families, and a Federal Training Officer’s Award for innovative programming. In 2011, Karol received the MCDA President’s Award for her contributions to the organization. In 2012 she received the Middle Atlantic Career Counseling Association’s Award for Professional Contributions; in 2014 the National Career Development Association’s (NCDA) Merit Award for her contributions to the career field; and in 2015 the MCDA Award for Innovative Use of Technology. She currently serves as MCDA Public Relations Chair, and is a member of NCDA’s Awards Committee. In 2007 and 2008 she served on the National Employment Counseling Association Board.
