Dr. Bruce Britton received his undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary and his medical degree from the Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA. Currently, Dr. Britton is a Professor of Family and Community Medicine and is currently the Director of Student Education for the Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) at the Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS). He is also Chair of the M3/M4 Medical Education Subcommittee, Member of the EVMS Curriculum Innovations Committee and Member of the EVMS Medical Education Committee.  As such, he works closely with EVMS Medical Education and Student Affairs in medical student education and curriculum design. He is also a teaching physician at the Portsmouth Family Medicine residency training program, Portsmouth, VA.  He has been a teaching physician at EVMS since 1993 and has an abiding interest in educational interventions that improve the knowledge, skills, attributes and behaviors in providing care for underserved populations and community based primary care.  He has considerable interest in community education, especially related to men's issues and collaboration with mental health practitioners. He has published one book and numerous articles with a recent emphasis on  men's issues and patient care, the use of empathy in the training of physicians, and how to positively influence patients.
