Derek Robertson, PhD is an assistant professor in counselor education at the University of Texas at San Antonio.  He is a licensed professional counselor and supervisor with over twenty years of clinical experience.  He has worked with a diverse clientele over his career serving groups such as children in the foster care system, people living with HIV/AIDS, the LGBT community, immigrants, and military families.  These experiences inform his work as a counselor educator and researcher.  His major research interest is examining ways of promoting cognitive complexity through cross-cultural interactions.  Derek is active in ACA and the Texas Counseling Association.  He currently serves on the board of the Texas Association of Counselor Educators and Supervisors and has recently been appointed to the ACA Public Policy and Legislation Committee.
