Brenda is a Clinical Assistant Professor at The University of Texas at San Antonio and has been the instructor of record for Child and Adolescent Counseling in a System Context; Counseling in a Multicultural Setting, School Counseling Internship, Clinical Mental Health Internship, and Practicum in Counseling. She received her Ph.D. in Counseling Education and Supervision and a master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She is a Texas professional school counselor, a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Her educational experience spans over 30 years with 9 years of high school teaching experience, over 13 years of high school developmental guidance and counseling experience, and 8 years of clinical and head counseling experience. She serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Creativity in Mental Health, the Journal of School Counseling, and is a board member-at-large for Texas Association of Counselor Education and Supervision representing school counseling issues. She has published and presented on related issues at the local, state and national levels and has actively served in ACA, AMCD, and ASCA and their related divisions.
