Brian Katz is one of the co-founding partners of American Real Estate Partners. Mr. Katz brings over 25 years of extensive experience in all aspects of commercial real estate including capital markets, acquisition, leasing, asset management and development. Brian was intimately involved in the sourcing, acquiring and financing of the approximately $1.8 billion of office, flex, industrial and residential assets, acquired by American Real Estate Partners throughout the Company’s targeted Mid-Atlantic markets, including Washington, D.C. and its Northern Virginia and Maryland suburbs, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Raleigh-Durham. For the 12 years prior to co-founding American Real Estate Partners, Brian was a Senior Director in Cushman & Wakefield’s (“C&W”) Commercial Brokerage Group in Northern Virginia. During his tenure at C&W, his vision and guidance helped to grow the firm’s corporate and institutional ownership practices. While at C&W, he leased and sold in excess of 15 million square feet of space and was one of the top brokers in the Washington region. Prior to Joining C&W in 1993, Mr. Katz worked for the Evans Company, a regional development firm, where he was responsible for the marketing and leasing of the company’s 2.5 million square foot office portfolio as well as their 1,500-acre land portfolio. Brian holds a Masters of Real Estate degree from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Maryland.
