Joe Mull & Associates

Joe Mull, M.Ed is a speaker and leadership trainer who works with outpatient organizations that want their practice leaders to engage, inspire, and succeed. Prior to launching his own firm, Joe was head of Learning & Development for Physician Services at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) where he managed training for one of the largest physician groups in the U.S. – more than 9,000 employees at over 500 locations. His 2014 book, Cure for the Common Leader: What Physicians & Managers Must Do to Engage & Inspire Healthcare Teams, has been called “one of the most practical healthcare leadership books you’ll ever read.” With more than a decade of experience working exclusively in healthcare, he designs and delivers training to practice groups, healthcare associations, and medical societies across the country that gives practice leaders the skills and tools they need to navigate the people management challenges they face every day. Joe is a staunch advocate for practice managers, a group of professionals he says “are the key to an engaged healthcare workforce, but too often are ignored when it comes to getting the training and support they need.” In demand for his expertise in employee engagement and “soft skills” training, Joe teaches healthcare leaders how to engineer teams that work hard, get along, and wow patients. In addition to being a member of MGMA, Joe holds a Master’s degree from Ohio University, is a certified MBTI practitioner, and is a Professional Member of the National Speakers Association.
