Dr. Betsy White Williams earned her Master’s Degree in Public Health from Boston University and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with specialization in clinical aging from the University of Southern California. She completed her postdoctoral training in clinical neuropsychology at the University of California, San Diego. Her early research and clinical work were in the area of neuropsychological changes associated with Alzheimer’s disease. For the past 13 years, her research and clinical foci have shifted to issues concerning high-accountability professionals. Her work with physicians includes addressing concerns related to clinical competency, substance use disorders, burnout, professional boundaries, disruptive behavior, and aging. In this work she has provided assessment, treatment and remedial education/treatment services. Currently she is the Clinical Director at the Professional Renewal Center® an assessment and treatment facility in Lawrence, Kansas. In her clinical capacity Dr. Williams is involved in the multidisciplinary assessment process as well as treatment/remediation process. She provides ongoing interface among the client, the workplace, administrative and regulatory authorities, and professional assistance programs. As a result of her broad experience she is familiar with issues related to clinical and quality assurance systems. She is currently a Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Psychiatry School of Medicine, University of Kansas.
