Mary Ellen Stefanick has been in healthcare now for over thirty years. She is currently the Director for Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital Call Center in St. Petersburg, FL. This is been a medium sized Call Center with 40 employees in both clinical and non-clinical programs. Both inbound and outbound calls result in a call volume of 750,000 per year. Services provided include an after-hours nurse triage program as well as a daytime access line taking on various duties. Physician referrals are received both via phone and the Internet. The Call Center is also the centralized depot for all in-house physician consults. The hospital switchboard falls under the Call Center as well as responses to emails coming in to the hospital’s website. While with JHACH, Mary Ellen opened the first of the hospital’s outpatient care facilities. As the Director of the facility for twelve years, Mary Ellen assisted in the expansion of the program and the development of future sites. Prior to her work at JHACH, Mary Ellen was employed at the Children’s Hospital in Boston in various operational roles such as the Business Manager of the Pharmacy and Financial Manager in Neuroscience Research. Mary Ellen’s healthcare experience has always focused around pediatrics. As a result, Mary Ellen is actively involved in the Florida Healthy Start Coalition, serving in an officer capacity on multiple boards. Mary Ellen holds a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration as well as an MBA both from the University of Massachusetts.
