Senior Engineer, Asset Management
Con Edison
Jozsef Szabo is a Senior Engineer in the Asset Management group within the Central Engineering department at Con Edison. His primary role is that of a Reliability Engineer for Substation and Transmission equipment. In this role he formed and facilitates equipment expert panels (Peer Teams) for major equipment groups such as HV Breakers, Disconnect Switches, Circuit Switchers, and Power Transformers. These teams are cross-organizational, consisting of representatives from the Field Maintenance, Engineering, System Ops, and Project/Program Planning. These teams work together to define and improve maintenance strategies and provide guidance for capital program prioritization. Joe also facilitates the Corrective Action Process (CAP) and Operating Experience (OE) programs for Central Operations. Previously, Joe was a Project Engineer supporting projects in the Fossil (Steam Generating) stations in Manhattan, a System Engineer the Steam OPS department, the manager of Configuration Management and a Field Engineer at Indian Point Nuclear Generating facility. He is much respected and valued in the organization because of his vast experience and knowledge across multiple business units. Joe holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Old Dominion University in Mechanical Engineering. He also has a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and both Level-I and Level-II Infrared Thermography certifications from the Infraspection Institute.
