Darrell Fountain is the Chief of the Cyber Security Services Provider program for the Defense Information Systems Agency. In this role, he leads the CSSP division as it supports the DISA enterprise, combatant commands, and Department of War agencies that subscribe to DISA as their CSSP. His division provides resources to enable subordinate operational activities and mission partners to defend their portion of the DOW Information Network and respond to cyber incidents and activities as a component of DOW’s integrated cyber defense. Since joining DISA in 2014, Fountain has served as a member of the DISA team to develop and refine threat-based analytic processes and defensive methodologies. He’s worked in coordination with U.S. Cyber Command and the DOW Cyber Defense Command to facilitate Defense Cyber Operations – Internal Defense Measure strategic efforts on behalf of the operations center team, capturing and codifying goals and objectives to guide the agency’s DCO-IDM effort into the future. Prior to entering civil service, Fountain served in the U.S. Army for more than 20 years. He received his commission in the Army upon graduation from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a bachelor’s in electrical and electronic engineering. He later studied computer software engineering and communications systems at the United States Air Force Institute of Technology and earned a master’s in strategic studies from the United States Army War College. During his Army career, Fountain held a diverse array of command, staff, and joint assignments in various communications positions, leading troops both at home and abroad. He deployed as the Deputy Director of Communications and Networks for V Corps and Multi-National Corps Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In that capacity, he participated in a variety of initiatives to improve and optimize communications to deployed forces in the theater.
