Nadine Lamberski serves San Diego Zoo Global as Chief Animal Health officer, overseeing the Departments of Veterinary Services and Nutrition Services for both the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. Dr. Lamberski leads a team of veterinarians, nutritionists, technicians, laboratory professionals, hospital keepers, and administrative professionals to ensure the health and well-being of over 7,000 animals. Lamberski joined the Safari Park in 2001 as senior veterinarian, following seven years as the senior veterinarian at Riverbanks Zoological Park and Botanical Garden in Columbia, South Carolina. She completed an internship at the University of Tennessee and the Knoxville Zoo followed by a zoological medicine residency at the University of California-Davis. She is a Diplomat in the American College of Zoological Medicine (ACZM) and in the European College of Zoological Medicine (ECZM) in Zoo Health Management (ZHM). Lamberski has participated in several field projects, most notably black-footed cats in South Africa, thick-billed parrots in northern Mexico, and desert tortoise in the southwestern United States. She is currently working with colleagues at SDZG, the Northern Rangelands Trust, and the Kenya Wildlife Service to enhance the health management of abandoned or orphaned elephant calves at the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary. She enjoys training the next generation of zoo and wildlife veterinarians and has a special interest in animal welfare powered by leadership. She is a past president of the American Association of Zoo Veterinarians and an adjunct professor at the University of California-Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine and the Wildlife Health Center.
