BOB JOHNSON, PRESIDENT & CEO OUTDOOR AMUSEMENT BUSINESS ASSOCIATION, INC., ORLANDO, FLORIDA For the past 24 years, Johnson has been the CEO for the largest trade association, representing the mobile amusement industry. The OABA for over 53 years has served some 2,000 members, representing carnivals, circuses, food/game concessionaires and independent ride owners, who operate at America’s festivals, county and state fairs and community events. With is prior 17 years with Six Flags Corporation, culminating his tenure as Sr. V.P. of Administration, he has been in the amusement industry for over 40 years. The OABA advocates and promotes the growth of generational, family businesses through its thirty-two-member board and key committee leadership, safety, education and advocacy on both the state and federal government level, working with IAAPA and the IAFE (fairs). The industry’s largest single, issue continues to be focused on the adequate number of seasonal, guest workers, under the DHS/DOL’s H-2B visa program. Johnson, as CEO of OABA, represents over a billion-dollar industry with some 20,000 employees, mostly working seasonally to provide safe, wholesome family entertainment to over 250 million Americans and Canadians. The OABA also advocates on behalf of USDA licensed, exotic, performing animal owners for rights to perform in circuses, fairs and other community events. He is a member of ASAE, NFPA, an advisory board member of ASTM International F-24 Committee, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. For the past 10 years, Johnson has chaired the Florida Amusement Ride Safety Advisory Committee, and he is involved with the Department of Homeland Securities Outdoor Events Sub Council for asset protection and risk assessment for the mobile amusement industry.
