Michael Mehlhorn is a Corporate Executive with 30+ years of technical, management, and leadership experience within the Theme Park industry. He is currently working for Universal Parks & Resorts International Operations as Vice President Technical Services. Mike began his career with the Walt Disney Company in 1983 where he served for 13 years in various roles related to maintenance and engineering of Amusement Rides. During tenure with Disney he supported Park maintenance in Florida, Japan, and France. In 1996 Mike shifted his career to Universal Parks and Resorts where he served as Senior Vice President of Technical Services for Universal Orlando Resort. Mike provided important leadership and technical expertise in supporting Universal through significant growth. Mike is a dedicated advocate for safety within the Amusement Industry as demonstrated by his active participation with ASTM International committee F24 on Amusement Rides and Devices. Mike also supports the industry by serving on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Amusement Ride Safety Officials (NAARSO) and currently holds a Level III certification (Senior) in Amusement Ride Inspection. Mike has been previously recognized for his contributions to the Industry in receiving the NAARSO “Man of the Year” award in 2004 and again in 2014. In 2015, Mike was recognized by ASTM International when he received the Dr. Richard Brown Memorial Exceptional Service Award for his contributions to Safety in the Amusement Ride Industry. Mike has an MBA from Rollins College.
