Carolyn Gaeta McLean is a multi-talented communications professional with years of experience on both sides of the camera as both a TV News Reporter & a Public Relations practioner. She specializes in media outreach, crisis communications & media training. Carolyn’s unique skill set & dynamic personality have led her to Vice President of Corporate Communications for Cedar Fair Entertainment, Communications Director for Churchill Downs Entertainment & PR Director for Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, where she spearheaded the park’s response to all manner of crises, including a tragic ride accident that resulted in litigation & eventual settlement. Most recently, Carolyn served as Vice President of Communications for Weber Group, a leader in the Design/Build industry for the Culture, Leisure and Entertainment sector. While at Weber, she orchestrated a progressive rebrand of the company’s image, including a redesigned website. Prior to holding executive-level Public Relations positions, she was a successful television journalist at WAVE TV (NBC) in her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. She also worked on air at WRTV (ABC) in Indianapolis & as the consumer reporter/troubleshooter for WRDW (CBS) in Augusta, Georgia, where she covered three Masters golf tournaments, including Tiger Woods’ first major win. While in Georgia, she also worked for CNN, assisting in coverage of the 1996 Olympic Park bombing in Atlanta. Colleagues note that Carolyn speaks fluent “reporter” while at the same time wearing a Management hat, expertise that has helped her manage dozens of high-level crises in her career. Carolyn is also a sought-after media trainer with the ability to connect with an audience of any size. She feels compelled to share what she has learned with clients in a fun & informational manner. Carolyn is a Dean’s List graduate of Ball State University where she earned a B.S. in Telecommunications. She is an avid supporter of the Fine Arts and has a soft spot for Golden Retrievers.
