Mr. Spencer is a veteran of over 40 years in the construction industry. His career began in the construction trades where he transitioned in his early years to superintending construction projects and to working for a large general commercial contractor for fifteen years before moving to senior level management. He resumed his Sabey career, now in its ninth year, and manages its entire commercial and real estate construction portfolio along with some third party contracting for select projects. As Director, he has steered Sabey Construction’s growth in a wide variety of projects, particularly those with challenging technical features. The preference for “technology-based” projects was born in the years when the company built extensively for various Boeing divisions, e.g., Boeing Electronics clean rooms and a Boeing Military stealth wing production facility. Other significant experience is in medical research and healthcare including the extensively renovated the Swedish Cherry Hill Medical Campus, a tertiary specialty center for neuroscience healthcare delivery, research and education. It is now undergoing the campus’s second phase development of approximately 1.55 million square feet under Mr. Spencer’s management. Also under Mr. Spencer’s leadership, Sabey Construction has undertaken the development of more than three million square feet of data center space in campuses spanning the United States. Intergate.Manhattan, located in downtown Manhattan, is a high-profile building towering above the Brooklyn Bridge and the East River. His team conducted the challenging renovation of the existing 1974 structure to transform it into a modern multi-tenant data center. Subsequently, the upper floors were stripped of their limestone façade and floor-to-ceiling window walls installed to provide unrivaled panoramic views.
