Michael Cole is a landscape architect and college/university planning consultant with 37 years of experience. He established MICHAEL COLE CAMPUS PLANNING in 2015 after co-founding ColeJenest&Stone in 1988 where he was responsible for operations and business development. His project work has focused on the public sector, including design for dozens of college campus and facilities projects. He has also provided design for healthcare and medical facilities, civic, transportation/streetscapes, infrastructure and mixed-use projects. Mr. Cole has worked on more than 55 college and university campuses in Virginia and North and South Carolina, including projects from Hampden-Sydney College to Midlands Tech and from WCU to UNCW. His award-winning projects include the 2000 UNCC Master Plan, the 2009 UNC-CH Landscape Master Plan, the nationally acclaimed James B. Hunt, Jr. Library and Talley Student Union, both at NC State. He was active in the Charlotte and Raleigh Chambers for more than a decade and co-chaired Raleigh’s 2030 Comprehensive Plan Committee for the GRCC. He also served on a committee to evaluate the Raleigh UDO. Mr. Cole co-chaired the NC State /City of Raleigh Urban Design Conference from 2007-2009 and was an NC State College of Design Designlife Board member for 33 years (president 2007-2008). In November 2013, Mr. Cole was elected as a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects. Michael received his Bachelor of Environmental Design in Landscape Architecture from NC State University.
