Nicole L. Jackson, PE, PTOE, is the assistant vice president of engineering for CTC, focusing on traffic signal and railroad design of highway-rail grade crossings. Over the last decade she has become one of the industry’s most respected grade crossing safety experts. She has conducted preemption trainings across the United States and Canada; contributed peer-reviewed articles to professional journals; and helped design and implement proprietary grade crossing safety systems for noted transportation organizations. Nicole's professional goals center around her desire to make grade crossings safer for the traveling public; she is driven to share the knowledge gained over the last 16 years to help improve safety for the traveling public, as well as to educate and mentor people in the industry who share her passionate desire to make the world a better place. Ms. Jackson is a registered professional engineer is 34 U.S. states and two Canadian provinces, as well as a registered Professional Traffic Operations Engineer. Prior to working for CTC, Ms. Jackson held the position of senior traffic engineering specialist with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) and was responsible for traffic signal design and maintenance, including extensive traffic signal timing, along with highway signing and pavement marking design and maintenance supervision.
