Shirley Willard
Fulton County Historian
Willard was Fulton County Indiana Historical Society’s president from 1971-2001. She founded the Trail of Courage Living History Festival in 1976, which earned money to purchase 35 acres along the Tippecanoe River in 1985. She donated a year’s salary to help construct a new Fulton County Museum. She moved 15 old buildings to form Loyal, Indiana, a Living History Village. She wrote numerous history articles and four books. Willard was awarded the Eli Lilly Lifetime Achievement Award by the Indiana Historical Society in 2017.
