Anne Shimomura Moore
Moore’s parents were immigrants from Okayama Prefecture, Japan. Her father farmed in Salinas Valley, Calif., where all eight children were born. In 1942, her family was incarcerated in Poston, Ariz. Quakers helped to relocate them to New Jersey. After earning undergraduate and graduate degrees in art and biology education at Ball State, she resided in Indiana, married and raised three children. Later she earned a graduate library certification at Indiana University. Moore is employed at Ball State Art Museum and President Benjamin Harrison Home, and she wrote a book on Caroline Harrison.
