John Powell




Born in Chicago, Powell was raised in Indianapolis. After graduating from college, he entered the Air Force Reserve on a six-year commitment. He was assigned to the 434th Troop Carrier Wing in Columbus, Ind. Upon completion of his military obligation, he entered the field of corporate insurance risk management, in which he worked for more than 40 years. Currently, he belongs to several local not-for-profit organizations. Sports-wise, he played college football, union rugby, squash, tennis, and sailing. In retirement, he enjoys playing the piano, building wooden model tall ships, and working with stained glass.
