M. Nazif Shahrani

Shahrani is Professor of Anthropology, Central Asian, and Middle Eastern Studies at the School of Global and International Studies at Indiana University. His research focuses Islam and Muslim political movements, state-failure, and fragmentation in multi-ethnic Muslim majority nation-states of the Middle East and former Soviet Central Asian republics. He has published widely, most recently Modern Afghanistan: The Impact of 40 Years of War.
