Ray Richards




For Richards, it all started in 2014 when he attended his first gifted youth event as a nonmember parent and found that no other families were attending. With wife Sarah's encouragement (insistence), Ray took the admission test and joined Mensa in 2015, where he immediately volunteered to take on the vacant GYC role for Gulf Coast Mensa. Since then, Ray, Sarah, and daughter Emily have been trailblazers in their work to provide events and programs for youth of all ages in their Local Group. They have also served as a resource to other chapters seeking to build their own youth program. Ray was named the 2017 American Mensa Gifted Youth Coordinator of the Year and received the 2017 Punkin Award for outstanding service to Gulf Coast Mensa.
