Sabine holds a Master’s Degree in Futures Studies from the University of Stellenbosch as well as an MBA and a BSc Logopaedics from UCT. She is a research associate for the Institute of Futures Research (IFR) in Stellenbosch, South Africa and a member of the ‘Global Scanning Network (GSN)’, a peer-to-peer reviewed scanning platform for the Copenhagen Futures Institute. Sabine’s interest focuses on socio-economic futures issues with a special interest in tourism and emerging economies in Africa. Sabine was recently appointed to the editorial board of the International Journal of Tourism Futures. Sabine Lehmann has more than 25 years’ experience in the tourism industry with a specific focus on visitor attractions. She was Managing Director of the iconic visitor attraction Table Mountain Cableway, served as Chair on the board of Cape Town Tourism and currently is vice- Chair of Groot Constantia Trust. She founded and is the executive director of the African Association of Visitor Experiences and Attractions (AAVEA).AAVEA lobbies government on issues pertaining to the attractions industry, encourages research into the industry in Africa and aims to ensure attraction managers understand the art and science of managing successful attractions. She is a board member on the International Association of Attractions and Amusement Parks (IAAPA) Europe, Middle-East and Africa Government Relations committee. Sabine currently runs a specialist consulting firm, CURIOSITAS, which merges the art and science of visitor attraction management with futures thinking.
