Colonel Ryan J. Gulden is the Deputy Director, Military Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM) Systems Directorate, Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC), Los Angeles Air Force Base, CA. He directs acquisition planning, programming, budgeting and operational support for a $40-billion MILSATCOM portfolio to include the Milstar constellation, the Defense Satellite Communications System, the Wideband Global SATCOM Program, the Advanced Extremely High Frequency Program, and associated Air Force communication terminals, developmental programs, and mission control systems. Colonel Gulden received his commission in 1996 through the Reserve Officer Training Corps at The Pennsylvania State University where he earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering. He has served in a variety of assignments in intelligence, satellite operations, and space acquisition at the National Air Intelligence Center, the Space and Missile Systems Center, the Air Staff, and the National Reconnaissance Office. He also was deployed to Jerusalem where he served in the Office of the United States Security Coordinator for Israel-Palestinian Authority. Prior to his current assignment, he served as the Chief, Advanced Concepts Division in the Advanced Systems and Development Directorate at the Space and Missile Systems Center.
