             Col Michael A. Assid is the Reserve Advisor to the Director, Operations and Communications, Headquarters, Air Force Space Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. The directorate is responsible for organizing, training, and equipping Air Force Space Command units for globally integrated space operations, and for assimilating capabilities into the operational level of war. Mission areas include missile warning, space control, spacelift and range operations, satellite command and control, nuclear event detection, airfield operations and Department of Defense Information Network operations. The directorate executes an annual operations and maintenance budget of one billion dollars. 
Colonel Assid enlisted in the Air Force in 1989 and was commissioned in 1993 as a distinguished graduate of Air Force ROTC at Texas Christian University. He commanded Air Force Reserve Command’s only expeditionary space control squadron and space operations group, and is a founding member of the Air Force Space Aggressor program. Colonel Assid is the Air Force lead for the joint Fighting SATCOM Working Group and is the acting Deputy Director of the SATCOM Integrated Operations Enterprise. Prior to his current assignment, he commanded the 310th Operations Group, Schriever Air Force Base, Colo. His command included all missile warning, space control, precision navigation and timing, space situational awareness and space ISR squadrons in Air Force Reserve Command. He is a Command Space Operator with operational experience in Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles, operational test and evaluation, space control and space electronic warfare.
